Our commitment to excellence and innovation remains strong as we make strides in our projects, recruiting efforts, and community involvement.
A major milestone for JDC this quarter was the official opening of Neovation Way on June 28th. This significant infrastructure project is now open to the public, providing enhanced transportation access and connectivity. The ribbon-cutting event was a moment of celebration, bringing together local officials, key stakeholders, and community members.

We ramped up our recruitment efforts in Q2, attending multiple career fairs and continuing our partnership with universities across Central Florida. Our goal is to attract top talent to support the growth of our projects. JDC remains dedicated to creating opportunities for the next generation of skilled professionals, focusing on positions across our construction and engineering departments.

Teammate Spotlight: Ralph Harvey

This quarter, we are proud to recognize Ralph Harvey, a foreman who has been with JDC for over 3 decades.

Ralph’s leadership, strong work ethic, and dedication have made him an invaluable member of our team. His commitment to quality and his ability to inspire those around him make Ralph a shining example of what it means to be part of the JDC family.

Ralph joined JDC in 1992, when asked what has kept him with JDC for all these years, his response was simple “It’s just a great company to work for, there’s no better boss than Jr. Davis”.

Being a family culture environment doesn’t get lost on Ralph Harvey, he had a multitude of stories of his time spent with Jr., including one of the many fishing trips in which he lost his hat on the water. Another favorite memory is the 5-year streak he and Jr. held as undefeated horseshoe champions. Ralph Harvey’s commitment, not just to the job but to the people he works with, exemplifies the kind of culture we strive to maintain at Jr. Davis Construction.

Our teams are dedicated to staying ahead of schedule, meeting challenges head-on, and executing with precision. Today, we are proud to showcase one of our major projects that exemplifies these values: the Florida Turnpike Project.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT: Florida Turnpike’s Widening from SR-50 to Minneola Interchange

Florida Turnpike Enterprise (FTE)

The Florida Turnpike project involves a full reconstruction aimed at increasing capacity from two to four lanes in each direction. As part of the work, we are constructing 10 new bridges, including a prefabricated steel pedestrian bridge, and installing temporary bridges for Maintenance of Traffic. In addition, we are adding six box culverts, over 33,000 linear feet of new drainage, and 159,000 square feet of permanent MSE walls. The project also includes the construction of two new roundabouts at CR 455, new electronic toll gantries with accompanying equipment buildings, and updated lighting and signage throughout. Currently, in Phase IV, with about 65% of the project completed, we remain eight months ahead of schedule. This phase includes the construction of the southbound lanes, while traffic is currently using the fully completed northbound lanes. Seven bridges, including the pedestrian bridge, have been completed, marking significant progress toward the project’s completion.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT: Florida’s Turnpike Widening & Nolte Interchange Design-Build

Florida Turnpike Enterprise (FTE)

As part of the Turnpike Widening Infrastructure Initiative, Jr. Davis Construction Company is leading a major project to widen a three-mile section of Florida’s Turnpike Mainline (SR 91) from Clay Whaley Road to US 192. This expansion will increase the number of travel lanes from four to eight, dramatically improving traffic flow and easing congestion in one of Florida’s busiest corridors. The project includes the construction of a new, full-access diverging diamond interchange at Nolte Road, as well as extending Nolte Road by approximately 1/2 mile from its intersection with Old Canoe Creek Road to create the new interchange. Additionally, improvements along Old Canoe Creek Road will accommodate better turning movements, ensuring smoother traffic transitions.

Modifications to the interchange at Clay Whaley Road will remove existing ramp access, with local traffic being redirected to the new Nolte Road interchange, increasing capacity and enhancing safety for the traveling public. Currently, the project is in the design phase, with initial clearing and grubbing activities already underway. Construction is scheduled to begin later in 2024, with an estimated duration of five years from design through completion. This project represents a major step forward in meeting Florida’s transportation needs, bolstering infrastructure, and enhancing safety for thousands of daily commuters.
