Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)

Location: Space Commerce Way, Merrit Island, FL (Brevard County)

Widening of Space Commerce Way from 2 to 4 lanes, from Nasa Parkway to Kennedy Parkway, including new drainage system, new signals at Galaxy Way and Kennedy Parkway intersections, and new ITS infrastructure for future use. This roadway provides access to the Kennedy Space Center’s Visitor Complex, Blue Origin, Space Florida, and more aeronautic companies to come.

Progress: Phase 2 construction has just started with 66% of work done at 40% of contract time. JDC completed Phase 1, 2 months earlier and we are projecting to finish 4 months earlier! On Phase 2 we will complete the widening along with drainage system, so the traffic will be on final configuration by summer. Our paving crew has shown their capabilities, placing more than 1,000 tons of asphalt per day, catching the attention of the Engineer, the Owner and on-site neighbors. JDC team has also shown good partnership with NASA tenants, as Blue Origin and North Delaware, coordinating transports and work schedules with our fast pace of work.
