Celebrating National Engineers Week at Jr. Davis Construction
National Engineers Week is an opportunity to recognize the professionals who help turn plans into progress.
At Jr. Davis Construction, our engineers play a vital role in the successful delivery of heavy civil projects across Central Florida — from major roadway expansions to complex bridge construction.
What a Project Engineer Looks Like at JDC
At JDC, a Project Engineer is not confined to a desk.
They are actively involved in the day-to-day execution of a project — working alongside Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure work is aligned with contract requirements, schedule, and budget.
A Project Engineer at JDC supports:
- Production tracking and quantity verification
- Cost control and pay applications
- Submittals, RFIs, and documentation management
- Coordination with subcontractors and suppliers
- Schedule updates and phase planning
- Quality and safety compliance
The role requires both technical understanding and operational awareness. It means being present in the field, understanding how work progresses, and contributing to real-time problem solving.
Growth Through Responsibility
The Project Engineer position is a foundational role within our project teams.
From the beginning, engineers are given meaningful responsibility and direct exposure to active construction operations. They gain hands-on experience in cost management, coordination, and field execution, building the skills necessary to grow within the company.
Many of our Project Managers and senior leaders began their careers as Project Engineers, developing their expertise through experience on active job sites.
It’s a role designed to build capability, confidence, and leadership.
